4WD Conversion

I have a neighbor with a 1992 D350 with automatic transmission that is in mint condition as it is a western truck. It is also in perfect mechanical condition. I am thinking I would like to convert it to 4 Wd to make it a little more usable i our New England winters. I have a W250 with a sick auto transmission but still a complete truck. The only difference is the dually is an extended cab. What would be the process to convert the dually to 4wd. Thanks for your input.

You can hang the 4x4 parts on the 2wd truck just have to cut off the suspension and change crossmembers , I've done it before not difficult

Lot's of drilling and cutting of rivet's but very doable .just take your time and Line thing's up.

Can I use the 2wd transmission because the 4wd needs a rebuild. I haven't had them side by side to see if they are the same.

If you use the 2 wheel drive then you have to use a divorced trans fer case and that mean's a second driveline and More U Joint's to break. Just be easier to rebuild the 4x4 trans and that way everything is stock .

For spring hangers contact jungle Jim on ram charger central he has a jig that helps alot with placement of the rear hanger

Take the front frame section from front cab mount forward from a 4x4 frame then trim it down to flat plate bolt it onto frame mark and drill your holes and your done .

Do not bolt the frame together , big mistake ?!!

No I meant to bolt the frame Jig to the frame and mark and drill your holes .

The jig that Jungle Jim has on Raam charger central has the hole drilled , you just mark then punch the hole !!!

you will also need the spacer block that go in between the rear springs and axle
