I bought 4WD because I want to be able to drive off road and in AZ that often means sand, lots of sand especially in dry river beds etc.

The manual says not to reduce tire pressure when driving in sand or snow. What's your experience and how do those of you with duallies handle sand?

I found Carrying 2 ten foot long 2 foot wide roles of cheap carpet perfect for getting out of deep sand.

I was at Pismo Beach with my 30' 5er on back and more or less stuck in deep beach sand, rolled out carpet and drove right out like I was on a road 5er and all.

Having spent most of my summers down in the Outer Banks of NC where the sand is very soft we always put the tire pressure down to 15--never got stuck--but with a dually you can't run far on hard roads with the back tires deflated for they may rub on the side walls. also the front end of these trucks are heavy. With harder sand you maybe able to get away with a higher pressure. Always carry a shovel,a tow stap and a 2'x2' piece of plywood with you(3/4" thick).
