This past weekend, we decided to venture up towards Lake Tahoe during the snowstorm. Hey, we were bored. Anyway, I finally got to actually use my truck in 4WD, so that made it worthwhile. :)

I've had it in 4WD before (once, just to test it) and it worked fine. But this time, the 4WD light won't go off. I've verified that it is engaging and disengaging from 4HI when I move the transfer case lever, but the light remains lit. I've tried putting it into 4LO also and no matter what I do, the light stays on.

A week or so ago when my new clutch went in (look for a POSITIVE post about that in the near future), they discovered a cut vacuum hose that goes to the transfer case, and repaired it. Seems it was cut due to my US Gear Overdrive installation (which I did), because I had positioned those lines in such a way that one got sliced. I'm wondering if this may have happened again, and resulted in the light? I figured I'd mention it...

Any ideas?? Thanks!

The switch that controls the light is actually up on the front axle disconnect... . so I would say for some reason it's not disconnecting. I would say it probably has something to do with the vacuum line that was cut... the service manual is kinda vague in describing how the shift motor works but it does show two hoses going to it-kinda like it needs vacuum to pull it either way? I'd bet my money on a hose problem anyway
