Two days into a 4,000 mile trip with my slidein camper I discovered a problem with the Hellwig sway bar purchased from 4 Wheel Parts. I sent them this email:
I have a Hellwig anti-sway bar that I purchased from you in 07/29/97. The link between the swaybar and the frame has broken. It is obvious from looking at the part that it was cracked during manufacture and then paint filled in the crack making it impossible to see.
Is there any warranty on this part, and if so, how can I get it replaced?
If there is no warranty, can you get this part for me?
Invoice # 287158, Date 07/29/97, Customer No. ######, Cust. P. O. ######
Part # 7626 Hellwig Anti-sway bar kit

$168. 95!!!!!!! This is considerably more than I paid for the entire sway bar kit. I expected the part would be free ( under the lifetime warranty) or way under $20 at least! It's only a end link after all.
I then called the Hellwig office in California and was told that the part was of course under warranty and where would I like the part shipped to? I requested the part be shipped to a hotel in Las Vegas and had it a few days later.
3 cheers to Hellwig Products for great customer service and a big fat watermelon cheer to 4 Wheel Parts for trying to screw a long time customer. I will never again purchase from them!
