I recently bought a truck for parts. It is a 1987 W250, 360 4bbl, 4 spd. I was always under the assumption that you had to have the same gear ratio front and rear but this one is 4:10 in the rear and 4:09 front. Can someone clue me in on this one? Thanks to all...

4. 10 and 4. 09 are close enough. You can have up to a 1% difference for on road use. Like 3. 50 in the back and 3. 54 in the front would be ok.

That way because you probly have a D60 rear and D44 front :yuck:. 60's and 70's are usually matched dead on. This may be no issue for you, as you may have other plans. Parts trucks are nice though:D!!!

You are correct! Your choices for one of two grand prizes are: a rusty red long box or a rusty red passenger side rocker panel... The rest has been claimed or salvaged...

Can you guess the transfer case based on the info you have? :)

Like others said, the miss match is fine. It will usually be the front that is higher. Like 4. 10 rear, 4. 09 front or 4. 10 front and 4. 11 rear.
