I used my truck Friday night and the 4 wheel drive would not engage. Of coruse it was snowing again, It is hard pulling enclosed trailer around in 2 WD. I did not have time to fix it my self so I took it to the dealer, the switch was bad above the transfer case. So $85 later it still don't engage right. I drove 4 blocks backed in the yard and when I pulled out then the front engages. This truck always goes in very quickly. Any ideas what to check?

I would remove the block that the vacuum lines attach to on top of the t-case. It is probably not on correctly so that it is leaking. Get some SilGlide from NAPA and lube it before reinstalling. Make sure it goes on right. One corner is different so it can only go on one way. Also make sure that the connections for the hoses from the t-case to the steel lines to the front of the truck are on there good. If that doesn't fix it check to see if the shifter adjustment has been moved. That should cover where they worked.

Thanks,

Correct me if I am wrong, Is there a add on I can do that gives you a low 2 wheel and 4x4 seperately. I don't remember much about it.

CHECK the vacuum line that comes up the rear of the motor through the lift loop (the hoop that you hook a motor hoist to) it connects to the little L shaped rubber fitting in the center of the rubber lip under the rear of the hood (hope this makes sense)

I found it (I think). there is a green vacuum line with a rubber elbow and a diaphram looking thing that is sticking up in mid air.

Where does it hook in to, I can't find any other hoses that are unhooked.

look under the rubber seal under the windshield ... at the rear of the hood ... you'll see a big wiring harness and the 1/8 vacuum line ... kinda pick up the rubber seal ... its about 4 inches off center to the drivers side on mine

I have 2 vacum lines that come up from the rear of the engine. one does hook up under the rubber seal, the other one is a green line that stops at the motor lift bracket. Does this sound right?

Thanks for the link. I will look in to it.
