Wondering what brand of draglink people are putting in their trucks? the stock one went 180K, and all the replacements (moog, napa, carquest, all lifetime) last 10K before they are junked (preload on joint lost so it rattles in the cup) :(

I thought about Xover, but the swaybar/stock suspension height complicates that. Plus I haven't had any problems with the stock setup except the poor quality replacements (was told Dodge didn't carry them anymore).

I think some of the droped draglinks from the lift companies have TREs you can replace, but has anyone run one without any lift?

All thoughts/ideas/info is welcome, thanks in advance guys.

I replaced the drag link on my 92 last year. Bought it from the local Dodge dealer and cost less than NAPA. I had not heard that they were of a poor quality.

I too replaced mine a couple years ago from dodge. Need to find out if chivvy drag link will work. They used to use an adjustable drag link, that the ends could be changed out. Don't know if the ends are the same. Prolly not, but the threads are the same, so maybe the dodge tie rod ends.

Guess I will have to do some more searching, this may be like the steering plate that wasn't avaiable, call around and have one sent to the house 3 days later...

Thanks for the replys guys, hopefully I can find a good stock piece. Or at least measure the chevy part, the taper is a pretty generic spec, so maybe the length would work.

Can't wait to steer this thing with a good pot joint, mount plate, and draglink :O

I've recently replaced the drag link (twice). First one was a TRW, lasted about 7 months, completely shot. Purchased second one from NAPA (their brand, NAPA GOLD, I think), lifetime guarantee, I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER the bed in about a month:confused: Went back, got another, been great ever since (3 mo. and counting). Now I don't do any wheelin', so abuse of the suspension is not the culprit. Just poor manufacturing, I guess. Bought the lifetime part just for that purpose, buy it once.

Well I got lazy and just ordered one up from NAPA, after they confirmed it was a lifetime warranty :) The dealer I found couldn't tell me who made it (maybe Moog, or TRW), and with no warranty, not worth the $204 he quoted me. Hopefully this works if not they will get tired of me returning them, at least they are easy to replace.

Thanks for the info everyone.

$204 for a drag link seems pretty steep. Chevy drag link parts would probably be cheaper(more common), and they're adjustable. The Chevy tie rod taper is the same as Dodge.

To use the Chevy draglink would require a Chevy steering arm. The tapered hole in the arm goes through opposite from the Dodge. Maybe a spacer for a lift kit under the Dodge steering arm would work if you couldn't get a Chevy arm.

I used Chevy tie rods to fab my drag link, they bolt to the pitman arm with no mods.

It was only 120 something at Napa, it must be the southern california thing here, everything seems expensive. Well except #2 lately, dropped all the way to 1. 92 here from a high of 2. 55 about 3 weeks ago... These Californians are weird I tell you :)
