"Burned out" EGT gauge???

Help! DMax Question

Are there any FL50 or 60's out there with four wheel drive? If not factory made, are there conversions for them? Thanks.

YES! Where I work they have a BEAUTIFUL FL60 that is 4wd. Solid front axle (of course). The thing is incredibly high off the ground.

Unfortunately, I can't find anything about it on Freightliner's website. :(

re: 4x4 freightliners

I've seen up to fl80 Freightliners available with 4x4, and even larger ones can be special-ordered, as can Peterbilts , Kenworths, etc. Dealers of these trucks have all the info as to front axles, transmissions, transfer cases... :)

nobody wants to drive it, it's so tall it's unstable, & it doesn't have 3,000 miles on it. If you want a real factory engineered 4 wheel drive it's either International or Oshkosh. BTW Ryan is next door to where the Internationals are built, Springfield, OH.

Yikes. Sure does look cool though. On the other hand, you just can't beat the looks of a nice Oshkosh.

Some Cool Oshkosh Pics.

We have quite a few in our fleet of Linetrucks. Both 60 & 80's. There was one here in Tucson (FL80) that was a crew cab & chassis AWD 1999 for sale for 35K. Nice but a little too large!

Yes, Freightliner does make medium and heavy duty 4x4 trucks. Most, if not all, manufacturers do offer front driving axle options on many different models in their respective line-ups, but the demand for them is only a very small fraction of their total sales volume and are usually limited to specialty fields (such as government, utility, military, etc. ) so the information has to be "dug up". You may have to get a dealership or 2 on the phone in order to start gathering any specific info you desire.

You will find some for sale here...

For general Information... the only websites that even show or discuss 4x4 or 6x6 options, are International, Freightliner, & Western Star and even these sites don't give you any hard info. Some of the other manufacturers may very briefly mention the option or show a picture of a truck with a front drive option on their websites, but have no information available, period. If anyone here knows of some "readily available" info on this subject, I too would like to know.

This place will convert a truck to 4WD, stretch a cab, alter frame length, custom paint, pretty much whatever you want. They are a pretty large player in the business. Not inexpensive. I saw a custom hauler they did with paint that "changed colors" as your viewing angle changed. Their work on that truck was very nice.
