Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 4x4 light stuck on

I have a 97 3500 and my 4x4 light is stuck on and only goes out when I honk the horn. It is not in four wheel drive.

weird..... i had the same problem... turned out to be a vaccum line had some unplugged... . but me honking the horn never made the light go out

Have you checked out all your under-dash wiring? There have been some weird problems involving the wiring thru the column, might be related. .

4x4 switch

For what it's worth, I had so much trouble with my 91 4x4 light, I finally do withiout it. It seems that the switch that mounts to the top of transfer case would either short out or open up. I replaced it at least 6 times before I got fed up. If it shorts out the light will stay on regardless of 4wd in or out Easy check, next time light stays on, disconnect wire plug connecting at sw to trans case.
