You can remove the two spacers to drop the rear a little. There have been a BUNCH of posts on this. This will make it set level.

I don't think I would want it any lower than that.

Deciding on 2WD or 4WD was the toughest decision I had to make on mine. Still not sure if I ordered the right one, but when you need 4WD, you need it. In AZ, I really don't need 4WD, but if I ever moved back to CO, then I would want to have it.

Lowering the 4WD by removing the spacers helps a lot with the height, but doesn't help the milage like a 2WD would.

Looking at the front axle below the frame... I don't see how it can ever be lowered to the height of a 2x4. There just no room left to allow reasonable suspension travel (before the axle hits the lower edge of the frame). It bottoms out almost at the frame as it is.

The 4x4 would not even fit in my garage (7' door with wx strip scraping the cab!) So I went with the 2x4.

PebbleJeep, I got a 4wd for the winter here in Michigan. Just trying to be a little different with all the lifted trucks around here everything is starting to look the same.

Well if your going to lower it at least do it right and get a set of spinners for it. I mean if you going to go getto go all the way.

lowering 4x4

Hey Guys ,

well i had a 98 2500 4x4 that i lowered 3 inches in the front and that 5 inch block that used to be in the back . i have just got my new 04. 5 2500 4x4 and i am going to use the kelderman air rides in the front to replace the original springs and shock mounts , i have a feeling that the rear may be a little more complex as there is no big block to remove . the old truck i removed the front springs and got the spring guy to make shorter springs , i had to remove the original rubber bump stops and make new smaller ones out of softer rubber . the truck needed a wheel alignment and i had to modify one of the steering linkages . but mine was a right hand drive version in australia . it made it way easier to get in and out of and the ride was only marginally stiffer . it did bottom out ocasionally but if you put nice soft bump stops on it is not to bad . of course this does nothing for the 4x4 capacity of the vehicle in harsh terrain , but most of my 4x4 was on beaches not over rocks etc . in the rear i put in a set of air bags so if i put on a load my loaded height did not change . so lowering is possible and they look super sexy and at least the girls can climb in .

regards conn :)

I work out of the bed of my truck so I would like to see some kind of airbag suspension that, when the truck is shut off, lowers about 4". Then hit the key and it raises back up to ride height.
