Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 4x4 Problems

Having problems with my 4x4

Shift the t case in 4L looks like that part is OK but the light on the dash

for the 4x4 does not come on ,used it two weeks ago all was fine.

I sppose the axle shifter is not working as it should, any Ideas

My '02 did this. Replaced a small plug type switch on the transfer case and the problem is gone. You can check it with a meter to be sure.

switch is on the axle. wires break with axle movment, more often with a leveling kit, etc. because the wires are to short. I fix mine & added 2" of wire...

same here. . the wire running from the CAD had broken. All was still functioning, but the light on the dash didn't work until I fixed that wire.

Check the vacuum lines from the vacuum pump to the firewall and also under the truck at the CAD. If vacuum is low the CAD will not shift and the front axle will not engage. Many times when I change my fuel filter the Vacuum line gets knocked off the pump and then the A/C and heater doesnt blow out in the correct place and the CAD doesn't engage.
