During the past snow storm my 4x4 started to sqeek. The sqeek would stop when I shifted back to 2 wheel. I assumed it was a drive shaft u-joint. The noise has not come back since that day and I have been under the truck turning the shaft by hand. I can't find which joint is going dry. My only resolution is to take the whole shaft apart and pull the needle bearing cups off. Now my question is where can I purchase u-joints for this truck that have the good old fashioned zerk fittings on them? Any tips on how the u-joints come apart at the transfer case end? Thanks.

At the transfer case end the u-joint has snap rings on the end caps. If you look in the end you'll the little curly-Q boogers. They are a pain in the baby maker to get out and you will break at least 3½ of the 4 trying to get them out. All of the aftermarket one's I've bought have grease fittings on them. Be careful though, I usually get so frustrated and spend so much time on the snap rings that I hog it in and screw up the needle bearings anyway. Good luck!
