Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 5.9 and 8.3 pump differences?

Got a spare 8. 3L pump layin around and a spare 97 reg cab 12 V layin around also! Anyone know of any differences in the two pumps? Different size plungers? Different DV's or anything? Thinking bout building the 8. 3 pump on the bench and throwin her in the ole' truck!

been down that road its a pain. . the 8. 3 receives pressurized oil from the front gear case from a small oil gallery. Check out the front of your 8. 3 pump and compare it to the 5. 9 pump. . also see the oil feed on the 5. 9 is not there on the 8. 3... I had a 5. 9 gear case welded up and I was going to make a oil gallery to to feed through the gear case to the 8. 3 pump, but I found a decent 215 pump from a freightliner FL80 truck, so I am going that route. . I also had heard the governors were different slightly in the 8. 3 vs the 5. 9 p pumps??
