Hope this is not out of line with a 5. 9 Cummins 12 valve in a F800. The truck has 45K miles, it is bone stock, 190HP how far can you safely push the HP, The truck has a different fuel and lift pump than the Dodge, my diesel mechanic has been studying the pump, I believe the exhaust needs redone, it is very flat as it turns down off the turbo, dont want to over do this but it needs a little help. it has a 6 speed manual.

The same basic rules apply to Bombing this as do to a Dodge. In a F800 you could get up to 230 hp with a Cummins 5. 9. Check with Ford/Sterling to see what hp and Torque your transmission will take. Any good shop familiar with the 5. 9 can easily tweak it a bit. Shadrach

The hp # is a bit deceiving. IRRC that cpl had a bunch of torque, somewhere around 550... ... ... ... . Where the Dodge 180 was only mid 4's

You don't say what year it is. I drove a 98 F800 service truck that was a gutless pig! It weighed 19,200 all the time, it wouldn't get out of it's own way up the on ramps. It had a 190 hp p-pump, and I slid the plate ahead about 1/8 inch and bottomed the starwheel. I didn't dare go crazy, it had no guages and I wasn't buying them for a company truck. I left the AFC where it was. It ran much better. Then I had to remove a broken screw from the AFC cover, so I slid the AFC housing ahead too. It smoked a little too much for my liking, so I backed the starwheel up about 2 turns, and it was great! Just smoked a little when I was on it, and it ran great!

The only thing I did was make sure I didn't lug it on long hills. I figured that would get the EGT's up, so I just shifted down and took my time.

PToombs,
Thats encouraging news, I thought we could bump it up enough to make a significant diff, mine is a 1995, all I am tring to do with this truck is remove some load of pulling with my 24 valve 3500.

I will give a report of mods made and the result of them, I bought a new exhaust today, cant believe how flat the original is right off the turbo.
