5.9 HO engine die out

My 2005 2500 with the 6 speed man. behind it dies out then starts back up. I will be driving say 70 mph and the eng. turns off, all the dash gages go dead and then around the time it gets down to 60 or 55mph it starts back up, the dealer can not find the problem, check for loos gounds and replaced the fan drive, also changed the fuel filter, it will not die out for the delor shop folks whe thay have tryed it reprduce the die out. no check eng lights and one code, intermintent power failure, it is not there all the time only once or twice. #@$%!

I had that happen once with my '01. Battery cable connections had slowly loosened over the miles and striking a sharp bump such as broken pavement caused that symptom. Tightened battery cables and it never happened again.

I have seen this many times & is usually due to what HBarlow said also... sometimes you must disassemble the extra wires that attach to the side of terminal and clean them individually. we live in an area where the roads are BAD think thats why we see so much.

I agree it's electrical, either on the battery side or the ignition itself. It is not a mechanical issue with the motor.

Try the easiest things first, have you replaced the batteries lately? A battery with a floating plate may disconnect and shut the whole system down on a random basis.

I would cycle the key and get any stored codes (on, off, on, off, on within 5 seconds). I think you may find a code that indicates voltage went low (P2509 I think - this code does not turn on the CEL).
As Cerb said it's probably your batteries but I would unscrew, clean and reinstall the ground screw that is located on the drivers side qtr panel just above the battery. This is the Neg supply for the ECM and can easily get corroded.

Since I've been fixing my issues, I've gotten into removing batteries which are going to be replaced soon and chassis connecting points. Always a good practice to clean cable ends with a bit of baking soda & H2O and a small brush, remove any crust built up. I then use Deox by Ideal, a product I get from my electrical wholesaler (or HD or Lowes) and coat all the connections, even between lugs that sandwich together.

i have also seen the main electrical connection for the motor to body not be locked into position and caused random issues. try to relock it or pull it apart and look at all the pins for corrosion...

I had the same problem. My truck died while driving about 55mph, dash lights started to go on and off(and had a check engine light). I checked battery connections, and found one loose. I cleaned, then tightened it back up. I was able to get to work, but then it died again on my way home. I had no issues cranking, but it was unable to start- couldn't figure out the problem. It seemed electrical, but the battery connections were good. After a ride on a flatbed back to the house, I found it to have a p2509 code. I read a few posts on TDR, then went to work.
1) I had original batteries (just over 8 years old!) so i replaced them
2) cleaned and reconnected every power and ground connected to the batteries
3) removed my quadzilla xzillaraider (just to go for a clean start... had a bunch of issues start since I put it back in)
4) cleared the code
Truck runs GREAT! I put about 7 hours on the truck since, not a hint of an issue.
