We are searching for another dump truck and for whatever reason many of the 26 - 35 GVW ones are running Cummins 5. 9. I've kind of had my eye open for an 8. 3, L10 or M11, but these trucks I'm seeing are reconfigured oil trucks all setup identically (10 speed Eaton if that matters). The price is good, but my local Cummins dealer knows what our work load is and how we use the trucks and tells me its probably isn't enough motor. Bumping the power is an option, but you know how it goes. If anybody has any experience with this setup in a hauling/towing situation I'd love to hear from you.

Furthermore, if anybody in New England is selling something like this please let me know.

I have been looking at mediums myself lately and from what I see I think it would be to small for good performance and longevity. May sqeeze by on a 26 GVW not any bigger.

Around here it's the land is as flat as a table top and some full size freightliner's (class 8) run the ISC with 300hp. They use 15 speeds and LOW gear ratio's in the rear ends. They say for this area they work great. NE is pretty hilly so I'd say unless you like shifting alot go with at least and 8. 3L.
