Dear Gents - after shopping new Dodge with Cummins I ended up buying a used low mile 2006 with a 5. 9. I was told over and over by auction purchasers for dealers that the 5. 9's are selling at auction for more than the same year (2007) 6. 7's as the 5. 9's are easier to modify, get much better fuel mileage, don't have excessive emission controls, and are a proven performer. He said like equipped at the big Texas auto auctions are 3-5000 difference in monies! Is it warranted to pay more or not? Please comment. Also my payments would have been nearly $200 per month more for new!

Congrats on your new ride. Check my sig, I have been down that road. I will say the 6 speed auto is awesome though.

I had 06 DRW for about a year before I purchased the 6. 7... The 06 was a great truck but with the 6 speed auto the 6. 7 has been a better truck for towing heavy.

Hope you enjoy your 06.

I'm sure I'll take abuse from the 6. 7 guys with this comment, but I think you made the correct decision to stick with the 5. 9. I've got a cousin in the oil business out in west tx, and he told me all his company is running is the 6. 7's and they have not been dependable in the least. He told me his has been in the shop numerous times throwing codes and DPF problems, and that his company is having to use an old school chevy 454 one ton as a backup vehicle. He said the chevy has NO time off as there is ALWAYS one of the 6. 7's broken down at the dealership. Not trying to be disrespectful to any of you 6. 7 owners, just relaying the info he told me.
