Rough idle and smoke

Possible belt slip, high pitch shrill at moderate to high throttle

my truck started SLOW, took to dodge dealer ,they installed new fuel pump got truck home, would not start, towed truck back, they said I had bad fuel , they cleaned out the line but not the tank . got truck home started after long crank, took truck back they installed #3 injected still hard start . took truck on long trip barley got there, after taking to a dealer the fuel pump in tank was bad . fixed my self still starts hard . just replaced crank sensor now won't start at all . I feel the dealer ripped me off and will let the truck rot before I take it back there . when the truck starts it runs great . it has 260000 miles .I don't know what to do .

When you say slow are you talking long cranking time or slow (labored) cranking? Long cranking times, especially with your mileage, is usually injectors.

Hate to say it but bad injectors and/or failed CP3.
The dealer doing the work doesn't know what he's doing. With stuff like this, it's better to take it to a reputable shop.

I believe it has to have a minimal rail pressure to fire - I forget what it is. Easier to check than injectors. Could a bad FCA do that? That'd be easy and cheap to replace.

I would check the fca. I think you can unplug it to see if was working. Also there is fuel pressure relief valve. I beleive it is on the return line going back to the cp3.. I would put old crank sensor back on. Do you have a cam position sensor like the 2nd gen 24 v with the vp44 or just crank position sensor.?
.

At 260k just order a new set of injectors, that is hands down the most likely problem with the no start. All the rest of the stuff requires expensive tools to do correctly or is inapplicable to your truck. Easy way to test if it is low RP starting, hit it with some starting fluid and see if that will case a start condition.

That is a good indication the injectors are worn internally enough to bypass fuel and not let the RP come up fast enough, it needs minimum 3000 psi to even fire the injectors. Cranking rpms are important also, if the starter or batteries or connection is weak and it won't spin at leas 200 rpms the rail pressure doesn't rise correctly. If batteries are good and starter sounds like it is fast enough then likely injectors given it will pop off and run with starting fluid.
