I didn't know. They probably work for you but I'm simply not impressed with any tip. It's just my opinion. I see lots of 'em out there. I'm not real sure what they are intended for... ...
I would think a tip is to fool the average by stander into thinking that the entire system is that large or... . ????? I don't know. The full system advertisements in magazines seem to always have this "tip" included with the package.
I think my tips look good, but the main reason I got them is to drop the tone of the exhaust to as deep as possible. My exhaust is a 5" straight pipe to duals with 6" tips and has got to me IMO the best sounding exhaust I've ever heard.
Were you able to route the 5" under your truck without having to crush any pipe or go under the transmission crossmembers? The only full 5" I've seen on a first gen hung below the crossmembers.
I had to massage the floor pan a bit with a sledge to get the 5" DP to clear, and it's still tight but it does fit. I also had to modify the upper piece to the trans x-member to get it to fit between the frame and t-case, way tight there too. 5" is easy once your past the t-case. I did cheat and use flex to help make the bends to get around the t-case. This will be replaced with regular pipe when I find some time. There's no crushed pipe and nothing hangs below the frame rail.
