B&W Companion setup help..

I bought a high end stainless kit for my truck that developed rust spots within a year. I switched that section to aluminized and 4 years later, it looks better than the SS ever did.

The rust spots are normal for that grade of SS.

I have around 300K on a 4" aluminized Jerry Jardine system and there is no sign it is going to fail over the next million miles!

Unless you are in a high salt area the SS is a waste of money.

dont really have an issue with salt unless i get behind a saltwater disposal truck with a leak.. hahaha..
the reason I said go with something better than the baseline is that I got the opportunity to speak with a very well informed representative from Silverline before I bought my exhaust. He admitted the aluminized system was built purely for price point competition and the internals of the muffler were not the same as the muffler than came with the 304/409 kit. said the aluminized muffler was more prone to drone. He went on to say the MBRP system was similar...
I always wondered if MBRP and Silverline were actually one and the same....

I bought a new full Diamond eye exhaust minus the muffler for about half price from someone local. Diamond eye aluminized is one of the cheapest routes you can go in the exhaust industry, and after 4 years of high humidity and salt and brine covered roads the only places any rust has started is around the hangers. I put it together with no muffler just to see how it sounded, at first it was kind of amusing, especially going through many of the covered bridges we have around here and rolling into the throttle with the windows down.... :D But after a week of not being able to hear the radio the search for a muffler began. I happened to stop by my cousins and he was scrapping a 5 ton dump that had been wrecked. It had a near new shuttleworth muffler on it, so I crawled underneath with a cordless sawzall and helped myself. It cut the noise down considerably and has a minor drone only under lower rpm/high load conditions.

A little video of our local road crew for all you snow birds to see what your missing out on November through March-April :D

I would guess MAYBE you could lower towing EGTs 150 if you went to a 4" exhaust with a low restriction muffler (read LOUD) AND a high flow exhaust manifold, less restrictive charge air cooler, pipes and elbow. These are all things I did to my 04.5 truck plus a higher flowing charger, and on a typical tow in the mountains I may have seen 100 to 150 degrees less EGTs.
