What is everyone using for A muffler on the 5" exhaust?

Most of you seemed to be using the DONALDSON's on the 4",

(not sure at this point of the ###)

Is that one avaible with 5" openings?

Or is there a better choice?

If any of yuo respond,,,could you please give Part numbers. .

THANKS

thanks all, my system came in the mail tonight at 530 and when i came home at 1030 from getting my new pupppy i looked at the muffler and beat the snot out of the baffle. so it is straight through now.

THANKS FOR THE GET BACKS

But that DONALDSON,, is 4" inlet AND outlet,,,,,,,IS IT NOT??

Is there another model # that is 5" ?

Or is every one just useing redusers/increasers??

I'd rather (if availbele) just use 5" instead of MORE CONNECTIONS. . (i. e. ) leakeage ,,etc.

THANKS GUYS... ...

I found a 5" straight through muffler at the local Volvo truck dealer. Price was right around $40 which was less than a buck an inch. The mufler was about 4½' tall when stood on end.

The picture I posted IS a 5" inlet and 5" outlet. I have it in my garage this moment. It is a straight-through design. Part number is M090535.

If you have the dreaded drone at 2,000 - 2,300 rpm you need a resonator to reduce the pulsations and lower the tone. The resonator must be mounted as far forward as possible, just the opposite of a muffler that is mounted as far to the rear as possible. Rip Rook has a good resonator for $85. 00 at www.sourceautomotive.biz, there are others available.

Private message the TDR member DBCooper. He has the 5" set up with the Donaldson, and added a resonator. He told me that the system with with just the muffler was quiet enough. However, he pulls a camper, and with that load he wanted it as quiet as possible on long hauls.

Drone and BRAP aren't the same.

Yes the 5" muffler should kill the 2150 BRAAAP. It did on mine.

I never had drone on the 5" system.

Drone is common with 3 and 4" systems is a dull resonance that covers a few hundred RPM and is MOST noticed by those in the cab.

The 5" BRAAAP is right on 2150, with about a 25rpm band and is a smack-you-in-the-head kind of sound that EVERYBODY in 3 miles hears. Yes it IS a resonance, but don't think that is resembles the "drone"--except for the solutions involved.

Both are easily cured. There are many threads on the topic.
