Hi long time reader first time dodge owner. One week old and very happy, much better than duramax and powerstroke. I searched for anyone with a 5" kit on a gen 3 and no luck. Please help me! I want a good sound, no ricer like I have heard about by taking the muffler out of stock. Thanks again Shannon

5" EX.Try,Big

Try, Big Exhaust.com

Diesel Dynamics also has 5". Lawrence has it on his 2003 and I have one of their 5" tailpipes on my Ram. Their system fits very well.

I am assuming the 5" is from the muffler back?? Have not seen anything 5" all the way through.

Anyone have any input on whether the bigger pipe may reduce combustion exhaust scavenging?

Thanks,

I have Rip's 5" system, and it is a 4" down pipe and then 5" to the muffler and out the tailpipe.

4/5" ex. system

the Big Exhaust kit is 4"from turbo to the end of the 6 speed trans. or less and then 5" to the muffler and 5" the rest of the way out! One thing, tell them if you want the straight thru muffler or not!!

We bought our 5in exhaust and EZ powermodule for our '03 H. O 3500 from Jon at City Muffler and Performance in Oklahoma City. Big Exhaust.com's prices are a rip-off compared to these guys. It's 4in drop pipe and flares to 5in before the muffler. After adding the exhaust and module our fuel mileage and power increased dramatically. http://www.mufflerandperformance.com is the website. Oo.

Just to set this straight. I don't like Big Exhuast (Personal Reasons)

But here ya go

Muffler and performance. EZ = $499

Big Exhaust. EZ = $472

Muffler and Performance 4" Exhaust (Couldnot find 5") = $ 389

Big Exhaust 4" Downpipe 5" muffler back? = $ 335

You can look here to :)

Engine & Drivetrain performance?

HWeber... care to share your engine and drivetrain details so we can compare them to our own?

Where did you notice the increase in performance the most?

(True. I don't even have my truck yet, but planning my future bombing is still a trip! :) )

We bought both items in March. At that time we paid less than $800 total for both 5in exhaust and the EZ module. We think Big Exhaust.com was charging around $85 to ship at that time (it may be more or less now). Using the above numbers plus $85 for shipping comes close to $900 for Big Exhaust.com. So we went with City Muffler and Performance, paid less than $800, and got super customer service to boot.

To answer mojaveJoe's question: We have a 2003 Cummins H. O with 6 spd, 3. 73 gears, 4x4, 4dr, long bed. In March, we added a 5in exhaust and an EZ powermodule. The EZ is run at Level 3. We noticed our biggest power gain at mid-range. The turbo kicks in right off idle. Fuel mileage has increased significantly. We can run 75mph and get 24 mpg. Also, pulling 9,000 lbs we got around 17mpg, running 75 mph. All in all, we are very satisfied with both the exhaust and the module. It was money very well spent. :)

Well, there you have it. The hidden fee's.

Glad you like the EZ.

Have Fun!

EZ...5" Exhaust and 48RE

HWeber, thats pretty darn good mileage. Your rig is almost identical to what I will be buying in 2004 except for my 48RE. What's your opinion regarding if the 48RE mileage and performance would improve as significantly with the 2 changes you made? And aren't you worried about your 2003 drivetrain warranty?

I would also be interested in any other members opinion on this subject. I have this fear that I will end up with a 10mpg/city 15mpg/hwy combo :(

Maybe Im just fishing for some encouragment here. Spending $40K on a vehicle is a big deal for me. I don't want to make the wrong choice with the 48RE vs the 6 speed.

MR. Mojave Joe,

I bought the 5" ex. from big exhaust when it was on sale for

$304 and $58 dollars shipping,the sale is off now I don't have

a guess how much now! But I lost some fuel mileage why? I think

when you go to that size ex. you need the fuel mod. That other

Gentalman made to match things up. jmho GWD
