whats the best fluid for 5 speed and rear end truck has 130k and i dont know a thing about its history so i figured id spend a few extra bucks on the good stuff for a piece of mind. shoot i only have had the truck 1 week and yesterday i discovered the lift pump wasnt working when i bought it. i just dont want anymore unexpected failures untill i make first payment or so

Did you buy it from a private party or a dealer. I personally use Amsoil Series 2000 in the rear. I can't help you on the manual since I have a auto. :)

Book calls for a GL4 rated 75W90 for the NV4500 5 Speed and a 75W140 GL5 rated synthetic for the rear end if you two anything.

I highly recommend Royal Purple maxGear 75W90 for the transmission (I have 145K on my 96 with 110K on the transmission fluid) and the Royal Purple MaxGear 75W140 for the rear differential. Already contains the limited slip additive if you have this option.

info can be found at www.royalpurple.com

I use Valvaline Full synthetic 75W90 for the Trans. It's about $7. 50 a quart:eek: but atleast it only takes 4 quarts.

I just went to the dealer and got what it calls for. 75W90 syn, transmission and 75W140 syn, Dana 80 Even if you don't tow, if you are bombed you might as well put in the heavy stuff.
