Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 5 speed transmission refill and fluid type

Im trying to find info on transmission refill amount and fluid type on a '98. 5 5 speed. I recall a special snythetic oil is used in this transmission. The chilton manual I have doesnt show much. Thanks.

four quarts of that special $25. 00 a quart oil!

You can go to a GM dealer a get it for about $8. 00 a quart,Same thing. .

You can use 4 Qts. of Redline MTL, it's about the same price as the stuff from GM, either will work good, I like Redline in everything!!
