ATS Manifold Question

Had Rip Rook straight pipe my 5" system and add a 6" tip last tuesday. I'm really happy with the results. With the windows up it seems quieter than when I was running a resonator. It is in no way obnoxious in the cab even with the windows down. A small amount of drone exsists about 2100 rpms but isnt bad at all. Here are acouple videos with sound if anyone is interested.

AWESOME

Zach, That sounds Great! Rip does great work and knows what he's doing. He's always willing to help a customer and fellow bomber out. Now your neighbors will think your driving log truck... :D

Okay - you have the drive by and take off... how about inside? Inside cruising 2100rpm... inside take off... inside next to a rice burner :)

Either way... pretty cool... might have to upgrade to a bigger exhaust... just want to know about the inside noise before doing it.

Oh man! Cool video/sound. We want more! Oo.

Anyways, you just sold me on that system. .

Are you saying thats a straight pipe w/ no resonator or muffler? Got to make sure I get the same one. It sounds real good in the vids.

Any change in egt's?

Thanks for sharing. .

THANKS CUMMINS4LIFE

Thanks for the extra work on your end to share this with us.

That was what I wanted to hear.

A little hard to really tell,, did it make a big differance over the straight pipe?

or just a differant TONE??

well how about that

I had to buy one and install it to hear what it sounded like. ;)

Sales of 5-inchers may spike soon!

LOUD SMOKEY PIPES SAVE LIVES! :D --well they make life more fun anyhoo.

Shortshift:

Its a straight pipe with no resonator or muffler. Didnt notice any change in egts, I swapped from a scotty2 to a megacannon at the same time and I wasnt paying attention. They definately didnt go up.

Powerwagon440:

The system on my truck is one of the first two 5" systems Rip ever did and we had to piece it together with elbows so it doesnt look exactly like the mandrel bent system he has now. I'll attach a picture though.

Wishgrantter:

The system in the videos is straight piped, it previously had a resonator. The straight pipe does not seem any louder to me than with the resonator, I think this is because the outlet of the tip is now towards the rear of the vehicle rather than out the side so less of the sound is reflected. The tone is different, its a deeper sound and less raspy.

I am going to try and get some in cab vids tomorrow if my camera can do some decent recordings.

I dunno Mark, I've been noticing a lot of 7" stacks on the big rigs lately. You should at least try 6"--up top anyway.

There's a Peterbilt or a Freightliner that I see in Lebanon quite often that has 7" or 8" Bull Haulers! :--) :D Oo.
