WooHoo!Oo. :rolleyes:

Looks like my replacement lift pump is toast at just 500 miles. My gauge was all over the place bouncing back and forth between 6 and 9 lbs at idle when I pulled into my garage tonight. :{ :{ :mad: :mad:

Can anyone beat this?:rolleyes:

Also, I just noticed today that my driver's door has a popped hinge weld at just 40,000 miles. Anyone else seeing this happen on their truck?

Gotta love it. :rolleyes: :mad:

Welcome to Dodge, not the town BTW. Sorry Dave, I could not resist:D :D :D

Man, I must have the one golden lift pump ever made. 120K on it and all is OK. My door hinge pins are worn out, but the welds are good.

Sorry to hear of the trouble. Let me know if I can help. Sunday is free for me, holler if I can help!!

Good thing your truck is still stock. It would be a bummer having to remove all the mods every time you go back to the dealer, seeing that it's going back quite a bit:{ :{

Just because the gauge is moving around does not mean the LP is toast. Mine has done it because of loose fuel cap etc. I always check with a manuel gauge also. jmho TT

What brand of fuel pressure sender do you have? I'm on my 3rd LP and 3rd fuel presure sender :mad: , Genos has been really good about replacing them under warranty. Yes it is remote mounted and I have a snubber in the line to.

Have you beat Fireman Dave. I had cummins dealer put my last lift pump on, left the dealer, drove 4. 2 miles, fuel pressure went to "0". I stopped and called the dealer back. He sent a wrecker and towed me back to the shop. Spent another hour convincing them that the new lift pump was bad, out of the box. They installed the next one free.

So nice of the dealer to check the FP of the new pump before you left :rolleyes:

Dave,

Make sure your sender is not bad. I replaced my stock lift pump because of the same symptoms you describe and found out $80 later that it was my sender. You can check the sender with a DVOM and a regulated air source.

My sender was fine until 12psi where the resistance read open and then above 12psi it went back to normal.

You win Steve!Oo. LOL

My gauge is mechanical, so I'm confident that the pump is history. I had similar symptoms on the last one - erratic gauge activity and low numbers. Testing with a temporary gauge confirmed that my gauge was not faulty. No elect. sender to worry about either.

My last pump died much more gradually, though. In fact, it took it a long time to finally go low enough for them to replace it under warranty - even though I knew it was bad much earlier. They still had to see the number they wanted before they would act on it. I think this one might go like a rock. We'll see what it does tomorrow.

Howard - thanks for the offer. I'll let you know if I need anything. :)
