Silly Gene. Didn't you read the fine print? It says "Deisel Only and See Store For Details". That translated means it has to be a 12 v in a lifted green ford crewcab in order to qualfy. :-laf LOL J/K ;)

Corrected numbers are used on dynos and such to take in account the difference in air at different altitudes. They take the number and correct it if the air quality is poor. There are non stop arguements from people as to whether or not a forced induction vehicle needs a correction factor. Some believe that the turbo overcomes the poor air quality and thus a correction factor is not needed. Others believe it is needed still.

I still would like to see that power put to a real test though
He tried at the track and snapped his billet input shaft at the 1/8th mile. He still ran a 11ish ET with a 7000+lb Crew Cab truck. :cool:

A vehicle that is run on a dyno will have more or less horsepower based on altitude, ambient temperature, humidity, etc. To make the numbers equal when running at the higher elevations the dyno operator will add in a correction factor to compensate for the loss of power at that particular altitude or temperature. I have seen correction factors as high as 20% near Denver, Colorado where the altitude is ~5000 feet.



For example, if MADDOG dynoed in Houston, TX at 46 feet above sea level his truck will put out more power than in Ogden, UT (where the Edge dyno is located) at 4600 feet. Edge did not use a correction factor so that it would show how much power you are making at altitude.



You could see the look of disappoinment on a few peoples faces that had run on a dyno that had a correction factor. There were some that were seeing numbers that were as much as 20% less than the "other place" they had run but the playing field was equal, they all had run on the same dyno with no correction factor.
 
I would like to see maddog come out to Indiana and pull in the superstreet @ SDX 07.



He should fair pretty well since he is highest in horsepower... right?
 
Just me, but I still don't see the purpose of a HP record on a dyno, when the real results is what can you do with it.



I guess it's just more competition, and it's good for the dyno owners.

Sure it's good for the dyno operators. Just another way we are supporting the economy. :-laf
