Folks,

It is looking like time for new injectors. I want something more than stock. I don't need to get extreme just a touch more oomph. What are the pros and cons of 50hp vs 90hp injectors?

Thanks

Andy

I have nearly the same truck as yours with 50hp Bosch Motorsports injectors. I upgraded from stock 250K injectors that were beyond worn out so I can't really tell you how much difference you might feel, but for me it was night and day.
I'm very happy with how the injectors perform. Honestly though, if I had it to do again, I might stay with stock injectors to get a little more mileage. I can get 18 with my current setup pretty easy and might get a tad more if I babied it and kept it under 2100 RPM on the open road. The only real problems that I have is I need a little more fuel to the rail and one step up on the turbo. If I were making your choice, I would go 50 rather than 90.

Looks like we have identical trucks and I just did what you're thinking about. Had 90 hp injectors for about 70k and just went to 50's, both from Dynomite Diesel. The biggest difference I've noticed is smoke... much less with the 50's. Fuel mileage, very slight improvement. I was surprised at the 'oomph' of the 50's, really not much less than the 90's. If that's what you're after, I think you'll be happy.

I've always heard that 50 is the way to go if you're looking for a nice improvement. More isn't necessarily better.

Ive got 60's from II... There was nothing wrong with my stockers; If I had to do it again, I wouldnt. You will have to get used to the noise of the larger injectors and the heat will increase a bit. Of course all these issues are compounded with me since I live at 6000 ft in Cheyenne. Stock injectors can support up to 600 HP... ED does it all the time. If mine crap on me, I will go back to stock NEW not reman.

The thing that would concern me is emissions testing. Even if you don't have it now it may be coming.
For that reason alone, I wouldn't go above the 50's.

I agree with the 50's for your app, especially with a stock turbo and Smarty you will have a hard time keeping egt's in check. I'm running Flux 1. 5's, which I believe were rated @ 65hp, with my set of compounds it can still get fairly warm.
