518 Automatic Adjustment Question

A 518, 618, 46RH, 47RH, 47RE, 48RE is nothing but a 727 with a PCM controlled OD unit bolted to the back. The later units added more clutches, steel planetaries, and lockup TC's, higher volume pumps, but, the basic design is still close to what started delivering about 1966 in the Dodge\Plymouth\Chrysler vehicles.

So to give answers for those that will at some point follow down this road...

It was the TPS unit on the top of the injection pump. When using my multi meter I could see the dead spot in the sensor when slowly pushing the throttle from idle to WOT. A new TPS solved the issue.
