E320cdi?

I know the 53 block thing has been flogged to death but I have one more question for all of you Cummins experts. Have any of the 12v's with 53 blocks experianced the same block cracking problems that the 24v engines have had?

TIA

Anyone?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm looking at a '98 12v engine that is a 53. It is a runner and there are no signs of cracks at this point, but I do plan on BOMBing it, and towing with it in some mountainous terrain so any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't really understand the 12V 53 block and the differences there are but a few years ago I was talking the Van Haisley about them and he said if they had allot of miles on the (100K or so) that they should be seasoned well and be ok.

I will tell you my old block has been through the ringer and is fine and I have a fresh one in the shop floor waiting for me to install it.
