I recently bought my first 24 valve and have been happening across thinks that lead me to believe there some problems with the "53" block. Cab anyone shed some more light on this for me? Thanks

I would first suggest searching for info, there is more info then you have time to read, but you can get the idea from that, then ask questions after you read some of it. The basic thing is that the 53 block has some problem areas that aren't thick enough and in turn crack.

The main problem with a lot of the "53's" had been cracking beneath the exhaust manifold. Take a flashlight and slide under the driver's side front. Look just above the oil pan at the front. You may have to move some wiring a little but look for raised 53 in the casting set.

Mine cracked at 17,500 miles ands was replaced under warranty. i think the odds of it happening again are pretty minimal. I hope,I hope.
