Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 53 block

Doing this for boyfreind.

Phoned Cummins and asked about the 53 block if it was free because of its poor design. They told me no, because I drive too much, and too much mileage. Why else would I have a diesel?

I have faxed Ken a number of pages of oscilloscope sign wave voltages, have also talked to him and said he would get back to me and never has, it has been a couple of years.



I doubt very much that I would receive help from Ken S with the cracked 53 block that has been burning coolant since new.



Ken has never followed through on his promise to call back.

I will try calling again when I get some time at home.

So if the Cummins engine warranty from DC starts at the end of the 36,000/3 years normal warranty, you may still be covered. Look for the recent post on the subject.

If your 53 Block has been cracked and burning coolant since new, why didn't you have it repaired while it was still under warranty?

Engine was dynoed in january 2000 and it dynoed at 130 rwhp.

NL Chrysler in Prince George, the diesel tech said "that was about right".



Prince George dollarshop added about 4 litres of coolant at 22,000 plus kilometers and some in between, and could not find a problem. Fort McMurray added about 2. 5 litres at about 64,000 plus kilometers. Cummins in Surrey said that the amount of coolant I have added to date was not much and he did not see a problem. This has been the extent of the help I have received since the truck was new.



I wonder why this was not replaced when new. The whole truck should have been replaced when new. Everday I ponder this.
