I have a 2003 3500 DRW 4x4 NV5600 with 53k miles that I'm ready to get a little more serious with. I currently have a 4" exhaust, ramifier fuel box and Rokktech sensor mod along with foam airfilter and intake silencer removed. I'm pulling a 48' enclosed race trailer from time to time and want a little more grunt. Looking for a recommendation for a smooth package. I am thinking along the lines of upgrading the turbo, manifolds (intake/exhaust) and going with a programmer. Will injectors be necessary for 550 hp? I want this reliable above all else, not much concerned with the remainder of my warranty. Already know I'm going to have to upgrade the stock clutch to a SB single disc OFE. What else should I be considering here? Perhaps scrap the turbo upgrade and go after the injectors first? Any experienced folks out there who have walked this walk steer me in the right direction?

Thanks

NO, go turbo first!!! I assume it's a 305/555 right? (HO) motor? I'd go with a 62/14 turbo from vendor of your chioce, Industrail Injection, or HTT, I've had them both... YOu go much bigger your going to surge pretty bad... Injectors would be nice, but don't think you really need them. I run a SMARTY stacked with my TST-R49 and love it!!! Your right, you will need a clutch, fuel system, for the money the big line kit from GDP is awesome! I'll let someone else give their input... Take it away boys... .

get your self a new PPE DL a II sps62 and a SB Clutch and you will be all over 550hp! and be able to drive and tow with no problemOo.

Upgrade the turbo, upgrade the clutch, and upgrade the fuel system. Injectors aren't necessary. I personally like the Smarty/TST stack. The TST is adjustable on the fly, and has the turbo cool down timer. I also don't tow at full power. I haven't tried the PPE box, so I can't say anything about it. A 62 is a good choice for a turbo, if you tow a lot. I also like the Walbro fuel system.

Thanks, all good stuff to digest. I put maybe 14k a year on it and 40% of that is towing 10k up to 20k now, but alot of towing is worst case conditions up switch backs in TN, GA area.

Feel free to keep the suggestions coming.

I think everyone is on the right track, Start with a clutch, A fueling device like tst, smarty or probably both. AT point you will probably need a turbo, pusher pump upgrades. Also don't forget gauges (fuel, boost, rail). Some guys use injectors and have good results. Some don't and still get good results. But I think start with the above and you should be ok.

It doesn't take too much to get 550hp out of these motors. ITs going to be a slippery, expensive slope my friend!!!

I have an 04. 5 DRW LWB as well. Industrial injection sps62/14, ATS exhaust manifold, banks intercooler and pipes and intake horn, afe stage 2 intake, 4" free flow exhaust and edge juice with monitor gives you all the gauges and the turbo cool down timer. All this for under 2600 bucks. I towed about 9500lbs from Baltimore to Dallas. Was nice smooth reliable power. And still got 15mpg at 70-75 mph.

Hmm unless all your stuff is hott there is no way intercooler at least 1k turbo at least 1k exhaust manifold 400 air intake 200 exhaust 350 edge even used 450 thats like stealing most of these items and ur still way over 2600?

I hit 551 HP with a TST and EZ stack, 62/14, ATS manifold, aFe intake, stock sticks and CP3 with in tank LP retro. Fuel and air filters both needed attention too!

You want 550hp!!!, reliable!!!, yes, you can hit that on a dyno with almost/maybe any of the above recommendations. Can you tow with it? Not get high egt's.

Do alot more research, you need air to burn the fuel, if you want to back away from that 550hp goal, and just want a good puller, SPS62, fuel box/programmer,free intake, open exhaust.

Just my . 02:)
