Cummins 6.7L in a Freightliner FRED Chassis

Honda Diesel

I get 40 on the H-D listed on the link below.

But would rather drive the Truck anyday:)

Yeah, I would much rather drive one myself, but I couldn't justify it anymore for strictly transportation. The difference between 17mpg to 50+ was way to much especially considering the way higher maintenence on the truck. I think for the first time in 2 years I have actually made my buget for auto related stuff. :)

Old 91 Acura Integra would get close to 40MPG on the highway if i kept it below 70MPH,but with a $4000. 00 in repairs coming soon(transmission slipping/ball joints/struts---electrical gremlins) i decided to dump it after 17 years for a 2008 Nissan Sentra SER"S"LOADED with the 180Hp motor----40 more than the Integra and it gets a bit better mileage 37city/43highway. Hopefully i'll get a bit more when i change to synthetic. Wife is driving it now and i have her hand me down 02 trailbazer which gives 22city/27highway----truck is the third vehicle used for towing or hauling and gives me 18 city-22 highway with the boxes turned up and stuff in my sig. Great Mileage, But! What is the cost conversion factor in the Diesel vs Gasoline, "apples to apples" comparison? GregH

No. A gas jetta "might" get 30mpg or slightly better. Currently diesel is $4. 09 here. $4. 09 / 57 mpg = $0. 0717 per mile. Gas is $3. 63 per gallon here. $3. 63 / 30 mpg = $0. 0121 per mile. Thats a 4. 93 cents per mile difference. Epa rating is 28 mpg for the gas version 4 cyl, btw.

This link is reporting even cheaper diesel prices not that far from my place. Michigan Gas Prices - Find Cheap Gas Prices in Michigan

My daily driver is a 96 Buick regal 3. 8.

I average 29. 5.

Best is 31. 9.

Worst is 23 after catching 7 fire calls with our VFD. Much idleing and pedal to the metal.

This Regal will coast forever when I let up on the go pedal. Rides low and is comfortable. 205 HP will scat. I add Marvel M-O to every tank and use supertech fully synthetic 10-30. Super dependable.

In my sig:

Truck=18-19 :)

Jeep=12 :confused:

Addressed Jeep issue in another post thinking it might be bad O2 or Throttle Sensor. Can't imagine why a vehicle half the size and weight of my truck gets 2/3 the fuel mileage.

1987 Mercedes: 70 mpg

1996 3500: 36 mpg

How, you ask?

I am mixing 50% diesel and waste vegetable oil, therefore using half as much diesel, effectively doubling my miles per gallon of diesel use.

Mercedes 300D averages around 35 mpg and 1996 Dodge averages around 18.

I can get around 30 on the interstate driving sensibly in my Liberty and have gotten a WORST of around 20 pulling 8000 pounds at 65 mph! (yes, I have brakes on both axles of the trailer and ran with OD off!)

I rarely drive the '03 because 16 mpg HURTS and I will not blend the veg oil in the computerized engines with electric transfer pumps.

I got 56 MPG quite regularly with both my 2003 and 2005 Jetta TDI but with my wife's 2004 Beetle TDI 47 MPG is as good as it gets. My 2007 6. 7 is a nominal 20 MPG
