HELP! Oil Furnace won't re-fire

Hey guys, i need some info on a truck i just bought. Where is the VIN located, and how do you tell what size engine it is?Any other info anyone might have on this 57 model dodge truck would be appreciated. Randy:confused:

There is a lot of info on the older dodge trucks at dodgepowerwagon.com Try those guys the eat sleep and burp old dodges.

This truck is not a military style powerwagon, just a regular long bed pickup. I am not familiar with dodge engines this far back, i believe it to be a small block of some sort, the valve covers have a scalloped lower edge. This is a half ton 2 wheel drive, v-8,3-speed. Thanks, Randy

A scaloped lower edge on a valve cover would be a 318 Y block engine. The 361 big block had rectangle valve covers.

Those were good dependable engines. But very little interchanges with the newer small blocks that came out in 64.

Well, so far i have found that the engine is a 315, and the VIN is on the front frame rail, i just need to go out and check to make sure it is right. Thanks for the help guys. Randy:)
