3.71 vs. 4.10 rear axle

alot of towing topics lost....

My 15K Reese should be for sale shortly after Xmas. It tilts front/back & side/side. I'm upgrading to a Reese 20K because it has more tilt and I need it for some of the places I take the trailer. I've got no complaints with the 15K just need/want the 20K.

Not to ruin Brians deal trying to get rid of his old hitch but I would spend the extra bucks and get the 20 K Reese, it is a much better hitch. I had a slight problem with my 15k hitch ( Just had a little slop in it I didn't like) and Reese replaced it with a 20 k at no charge, I would highly recommend Reese there customer service is great.

I have had a RBW Lil’rocker, 15000# hitch for 8 years, Lifetime guarantee. Pivots front to back and side to side. Flip two levers and the side to side function is locked out.

Instead of a pair of “C” shaped clamps that hinge in front of the "C's" to lock around the Hitch Pin, RBW has a 3/4x2 inch wide (approximately) steel bar that locks behind the Hitch Pin. I painted the locking bar white for better visibility. That hitch is never going to drop the 5er on the bed.

About 3 years ago a crack developed at one of the side to side pivot points. I called RBW, they O’nite, UPS a complete new head including pivot bolts, bushings etc. No questions asked etc. they didn’t even want the old head back for proof of cracking! They just took my word over the phone.

I highly recommend RBW.

Go with an RBW hitch. When this hitch locks you can hear it snap closed and there is no way it can come open accidentally.

I have the 15K RBW and it works just fine. Seems like you see more Reese hitches than any other kind. Probably wouldn't be going wrong with either one.

RBW hitch

Lizzy, I'm with these guy's and the RBW. I have one that is in it's 3rd truck and second trailer. The slide bar setup they use is both foolproof and idiot proof. Their customer service is topnotch. Each time I've changed trucks and needed a few brackets, spacers, etc. they would send me what I needed for free. Their install instructions are top notch, it is a very easy hitch to install.

Does it really make any difference between brands? IMO, buy whoever has the load range you want & side to side tilting.

RBW Hitch

Do they have a web site? Have been trying to research 5vr hitches and can't find one for them. Any help would be appreciated.

Mniver, they don't have a website. Here are their phone numbers:

I haven't done it yet but came close to loosing my trailer. It's a GOOD security feature that the jaws snap shut automatically when the pin is home and there is visible proof. The Drawtite 15k rocker I have now does as long as I haven't got it locked open and I think the others mentioned also do, but make sure. I've seen some that don't and see the banged up boxes and trailers. Get a "rocker" (side to side pivot) so it will unhook after you level the trailer but the truck is still cocked. I'd worry about features like that a lot more than brand. Craig

Here's today's version of mine.

It only differs from mine in the handle. I liked it because of it's profile. You can stack things along side it & even if you don't, its easier to get 'maneuver' around when you're shuffling things around in the bed.

The locking mechanism works great! When you back up to the 5th wheel to connect, when this baby latches, those big springs sure let you know it's locked. When locked, there is a safety pin for that added warm & cozy. :) I use the safety pin to secure the break away.
