Installing Bed Rails and 5th wheel Hitch

generator and solar needed in lower BC

We just got back from a 2 week 5k mile trip to New England towing a 37' Montana 5th wheel with 3 slides. The truck performed flawlesssly. The worst towing mileage was 11. 2 and the high was 13. 1. I took the combo across the CAT scales and weighed 21,760lbs. Front= 5480, Rear=6480 and the trailer was 9800lbs. I ran the trip with a brand new fueling module from QUADZILLA which has three settings. They are stock, 75HP and 150HP. I ran at 75HP the entire time. The high temp as recorded on the SPA was 1220. I was really impressed by the chip. The transmission ran a little hotter than I though it would. It is a 6speed with the coolers on the sides. I filled it with new Redline MTL before leaving. I recorded a high of 218 degrees with a ambient of around 98. The rearend never got above 180 with a Mag Hytec and Amsoil in it. I will need a clutch. The stock unit will slip slightly on the 75HP setting if the RPMS are low and the drivers is stupid and slips at will on the 150HP setting. We sure had a great time except for all of the the alternative lifestyle explaining we had to do after visiting Provincetown, Ma. What's up with that???... . CJ

Sounds like a good trip CJ, your truck is set up pretty nicely. Glad ya had fun.

I don't get the reference to Providence MA and the alternative lifestyle.

Provincetown, Ma. appears to be a very openly gay community. My idea of a nice time is not watching the same sex hang all over each other, nor is it being handed fliers for "alternative lifestyle" clubs. These fliers were handed out in the street and while exiting a high speed ferry from Boston. There were at least 50 gay couples coming from Boston to Providence who were openly gay... . ie kissing and hugging on the boat. I am not a "gay basher" by any means, I have a brother who chose that path. I just don't need to see men kissing on each other or women doing the same as much as can be seen in "P" town. I would not recommend this as a tourist stop. My wife and children as well as the family of four we travelled with were quite ready to depart... . CJ

Doh!

That must have been pretty harsh, having the kids along and that kind of stuff happening in plain view. Times have sure changed. Our national obsession with sex, and increasing societal lack of inhibition, has brought a lot of behavior into open view that is better left behind closed doors.

Mike, I agree with your statement 100%. I don't show half the public affection towards my wife as I witnessed that day. It must just be the town "spirit". We do a lot of traveling and have never witnessed anything like that. My 11 year old daughter was at a loss for words. My 14 year old son refused to spend any of his money on souvinirs... feeling he would be supporting what he was witnessing. There were even B&B's with Barbie and Ken doll menageries set up in the windows showing the same sex having a good time. Very strange place. I called my gay brother who lives in Seattle to talk to him about it. He was very aware of the area and its reputation. Vacationer's beware!!

CJ... . thanks for the report! Your mileage sounds very good considering the load. What was your average speed? ... . I would love to hear your sound system, I bet it's nice!

Provencetown is not exactly your typical New England town, anymore than Key West is typical of Florida or San Francisco is typical of California :) . We all have our skeletons in (or out of) the closet. ):(
