Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 5spd shifter lever shakes. Why?

My transmisson shifter lever shakes back and forth an inch or so as I'm truckin down the road. Does anyone know what would cause this.



The truck is: 98 3500 4x4, 5spd, 160K miles.

Did it always do it? I don't want to assume that is has or has not. It may be normal. Mine has always vibrated pretty good. It has felt smoother since I had the FS mainshaft installed and the input shaft and pilot bearing replaced.

Mine does it... .

Really shakes, rattles, & rolls when in 3rd or 5th! Don't know if it is normal or not, but mine has done it since I bought the truck used 2 years ago!

Mine doesn't, has always been pretty smooth
