Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 5spd Trans Problem

Truck 1998 24 valve:

about 70,000 miles

This is a friends truck. Last spring something went wrong

inturnally in the transmission and they took it appart and

needed to put a new input shaft in it. Now about 2,000 miles later the transmission is locking between shifts. If you take the shifter off the trans, pop it out of gear, put it back together and run for a while again. We are just worried that it's going to leave my friend stranded somewhere with a horse trailer on. Any suggestions guys?

Probably the interlocks on the shift rails in the tower aren't working right, from what you posted. Get a new tower from 800-std-tran and while you're at it, ask them what they think.
