Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 5TH gear- another

Well another 5Th gear seems to be migrating on the main shaft. :{ Most of the post i've seen say that it's like neutral, this one is making a #ell of a lot of noise. I'll get a peek inside this weekend. This truck is stock but had a hard life before I owned it.

If it slid back you probably won't hear it. More likely you've stripped the spline inside it or possible in the middle of the syncro cone.

lost 5th on mine about 40K miles ago... . acted like it went into neutral, but sounded like some threw gravel in the transmission, just stripped all the splines, made the shaft just about smooth, it had previously had the upgraded nut repair as well.
