5th gear fix question continued

So, is Dodge's "fix" for 5th gear on the NVG 4500 for, let us say, the 2002 Dodge Ram diesel just out of the factory "not very good"? In other words, if someone were to buy a 2002 with 5-speed, that person would need to somewhat promptly find an after-market fix for fifth gear? Thanx. Jim (Sorry for my confusion. )

'99 with 101,000 miles and no fix yet.

I don't know about the 2002s, but I have a '99 model with the NV4500 with over 101,500 on it. I use it for towing loaded farm trailers on the weekends and a daily driver during the week. I only use 5th when the roads (and Sunday drivers) allow me 65 - 70mph. I have not had to do a fix on mine yet.
