It seems that if failure of the 5th gear nut is not a certainty, it is highly probable. My question to those that have experiance with these things is, How far would you dare drive with the nut and gear backed off (after a failure). I am now, as we say, "My own warranty station" so going back to the dealer is not something that I want to do. BUT... what if you were on the road say, on vacation... how far would you drive before repairing the "Nut"... . 5mi... ,50 mi... ,500mi... ,1000mi... ??? I am just trying to prepare for the inevitable.
