I hate to say it, but it's a definite possibility that 5th is on the way out. Especially if the vib is only in fifth. The best way to check would be to pull
the tailhousing off. You would have to actually pull fifth gear off to check the
splines. Even if the nut is tight, the splines could be worn.
For a repair, I wouldn't do anything less than an updated mainshaft repair.
