Hey Guys,
I'm going to be delivering RVs and stock trailers for a transportation company. I will be needing a 5th wheel and gooseneck hitch. Anybody out there know of a good combo hitch? Any and all info is apprectiated.
Thanks, Terry

Terry:

I pull just stock trailers and have been running the B&W. I have been the factory several times picking up pallets of hitches. They came out with a fifth wheel hitch that drops right into the spot their gooseneck ball goes. Has lots of functionality. Have not used the fifth wheel portion but if I had a need for pulling those trailers I would look into it.

Their gooseneck setup is very good. Other drivers have jackknifed and neen run into witl trailers on and no damage to ball hitch setup.

I would give them a call. HTTP://www.turnoverball.com/

IF YOU ARE PULLING TRAILERS YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT IS COMMING UP NEXT(WHERE YOU WANT TO GO) SO SET IT UP FOR THE MAX. MIN. 20K HITCH IT WILL HANDLE THE 20FT AND 40FT. TRIPLE SLIDE OUT. YOU'D HATE TO GIVE UP A TRIP TO KEY LARGO BECAUSE YOU ONLY HAVE A SET UP RATED AT 15k!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SAME FOR YOUR TOW HITCH. 21K W 17K STINGER
WITH THIS SET YOU WILL NEED THE ADAPTOR TO PULL THE LITTLE 1-7/8 UNITS WHICH WONT BE OFTEN __REESE.

I could not find your email address so I will post here and hope you find it.

I see in past posts you have over 680K on an 96 3. 54 5sp.

How has your 5sp held up? Drive in 5th often?

Running stock engine? See boost over 25?

I have a 96 5sp. I pull stock and horse trailers (double and triples). My 5th gear and mainshaft just went south at 150K. Putting in Brand New transmission (OUCH) Would like to get more milage out of this one. Hate to run in 4th when pulling!

What is your thoughts. You can post here or click on the mail icon above this post to email directly.

I've been using the Reese hitch rails in the bed with the interchangable ability to go from a 15K or 20K pivoting to a 25K 'Goose' etc etc. I carry 3 solid 6" drop hitches... one 2-5/8", one 2" and one 1-7/8".

When I deliver my trailers I try to take a gooseneck and a bumper pull. each trip. I always weld a 2" recvr on the gooseneck trailers. Some states require the first trailer to be a 5th wheel so I carry both couplers just in case a rule has changed.

If theres any trailer needing to be moved south from western Canada... I'd do it. I will be dead heading to Vegas in late Feb and back to Calgary.

BOMBing includes having the trailer stuff too.

I've been using a Reese 20K Classic hitch. It mounts on two rails that are permanently mounted in the bed. The rest of the hitch is removable. A feature I like, besides the 20,000 pound rating is the side tilt. Some fifth-wheel hitches don't have it and the hitch can bind at times, making hitching and unhitching difficult.

Reese makes a gooseneck hitch plate that mounts to the same rails. I have one of these too, but have only used it a few times.

This set-up allows me to install whichever hitch the trailer requires. If I were not sure of the trailer type I'd be picking up, it would be no problem to bring both hitches.
