Hi guys; Well, I picked up the new truck a few days ago. Wow, am I impressed. I'll have questions as time goes on but for now the main question I have is the fifth wheel hitch. I bought the 13 mega cab and it has the under body cross member for the hitch. I would like to look at all the options but am not sure what the cross member is designed for. Because of budgets I would like to keep the husky hitch I have used but will the cross member help or not. Plus, it looks like the bed is slightly smaller and with the tool box in am I going to crowd things a bit. Any thoughts. Thanks,Brett

By the time you spend the money on the ram factory parts, you might be better off trying to sell what you have and go with s B&W setup. I'm sure Joe will probably chime in, he's pretty up on the the stock vs. aftermarket. I have the B&W setup with the new 3500 companion, very impressed with it.

Since you already have a hitch, all you will need is to buy the Ram picture frame part 82213667, or if you aren't in a hurry Reese will have the same part in a few months for several hundred dollars less.

I take from what he said that he does NOT have the 5th wheel prep kit installed. So, he could not use the adapter. I would install a gooseneck ball, and go with the Anderson hitch myself, if I did not have the prep kit.

Research has to be done cause you have the short bed on the megacab. IF you have a extended pin hitch on the trailer you might not need the slider hitch set up. The dealer will try and sell you a slider hitch. My neighbor has a Megacab and does not need the slider, cause of the length of the pin box. He bought one cause the salesman said he needed it. Pullrite has the automatic hitch, and there is the one that pivots at the trailer end. Air Force? which works good to.

Cab damage you don't want. Does the trailer have a round nose? maybe no worry. Just things to concider.
