My hot water heater is leaking and I've been trying to figure out how to get it out of there. It looks like the best way is from the outside. Anyone done this? Any suggestions? Thanks, Mike
Mike... We had ours replaced when it was less than a week old for the same reason. You got it right. Reach under the counter and unhook all the lines you can find and pull it out the side of the trailer where your drain valve and anode access is.
I agree with what steve said. . i replaced mine on a slide in camper. Make sure you replace the gasket around the outside (I think they call it putty tape) Good luck its not a hard job.
I paid Camping World to replace my 10 year old leaking heater. It took 6 hours as I was told the manufacturer had modified the wiring and they had to "fix" it. The very next day 200 miles down the road the heater failed to heat! A second Camping World inspected the installation and I was told the first installation should have installed two control switches. One for gas and one for electric. The first had tried to get by with only the installed gas switch. They bought a switch for me and 6 hours later they fixed it correctly by wiring it properly.
Be careful if the electrical requirements for the new heater is different from the old one that you follow the instructions.
