Front-Torklift camper tie downs-2005 dually, How do you like??

Keystone Sprinter

I have some shake when walking in the RV . The factory stabilizers are tight but still get some movement. Any inexpensive ,light weight solutions.

There is a stabilizer on the market that mounts on the legs, front and rear, and mounts perminitly on the trailer. They have been showin at our Good Sam Samborees, and and have been advertised in Trailer life. They clam reduced movement, How much? but I don't think you can eliminate it 100%. The distibuters web www.jtrv.com or call 1-888-587-5878

I had the same problem while trying to sleep in the bed above the hitch. I bought a 3 leg King Pin Tripod Stabilizer Jack and 2 Deluxe Tire Locking Chock, put 1 chock on each side of tires and problem solved no more movement front to rear or side to side. Hope this helps. :)

Mine has load range D tires. When the camper moves, its the side walls of the tires flexing. Short of putting it up on blocks, the only thing I feel that will help is the locks like in post 3 (or switch to range E tires).

I have sissor jacks on the rear, and a 2 legged thing I put under the hitch, plus a BAL jack between the trailer tires on one side, plus a custom tire chucks I made out of 6"x6"'s that has a bolt and wing nut to tighten them up between the tires.

My last camper had smaller tires, but they were load range E, and had less movement.

I use the Plugitrights on my 31 ft 5th wheel and they take out almost all side movement in front except for the most severe. They work so good that I gave my king pin stabilizer away. I do use a in between the tires chocking device also. Plugitrights are ordered thru a TDR member. I may order stabilizer for my rear (they didn't have the rears when I ordered mine, now they do).

I use the RotoChocks from Geno's. They really stop the back and forth movement. Only way to get rid of all movement is on blocks with no wheels on the ground. Not too practical unless you are parked permanently.

my 5er had to much wiggle. I added a pin stabilizer in front, adjustable wheel chocks on both wheels and rear stabilizers [not the scissor jack types]. No more wiggle.

Sorry, to hear you guys are getting motion sickness in your 5'vers. Maybe yA'll need a few ballet lessons in walking SMOTHER and lighter. Ha Ha. Enjoy

Plugitrights or JT's Strong Arm Jack Stabilizer

I made my own. Just look at what they are selling. I used 1/2 inch pipe and 1/2 inch rod. I used 1 1/2 inch angle iron for the brackets, and 1/2 inch rod end ball joints from McMaster-Carr. And for the question of does it work, most definetly !

I have to agree with "MLee". The set he is talking about is about the best setup I have seen on the market. Plus they fold up with the landing legs. The tri-pods are nice but you have to store them and for me they get in the way when getting something out of the front of the trailer. I have the wheel locks that lock between the tires. I only have one, but I am sure one on each side would help. :D

I built my own.

I took 2 4x6 blocks and curved and upper and lower that fit between the dual wheels. Ran a piece of 1/2" all thread through the middle and tightened them together until the wheels would stop rocking (there are comercial jacks that do the same thing but I'm cheap (commercial are here).

Then I built a bipod jack for the pin box in the front. I got a piece of pipe that fit the pin snugly and welded two tabs on each side. I fit two 1" pipes that were long enough to be about 6" inside the width of the rig when it was on level ground (pin to ground length). I built a foot for each leg. Then I welded a single chain link to each leg at the bottom. Ran a chain with a safey chain link on one side and a turn buckle on the other. Setup was quick, easy, very adjustable and it folded up to go in the back of the truck nicely.

The wheel chalks stopped the fore and aft movement and the bipod stopped the side to side. Only wiggle felt was the tire squirm which isn't much. Total cost was about $20 and some time.
