Are the Arctic Fox still built using their own frame I know that they built their own in the TT line but dont know about the Fifth wheels?

Haven't kept up with them for a few years. Here is a link to a site like TDR is to the CTD but is for Northwoods Manufacturing. Ask them the questions you have but they will be loyal like most Arctic Fox and Nash owners are.

Hey Big, just thinking out loud here. My neighbor pulls a large Montana with an F-650 with a CM hauler bed on it I believe. Last time I talked to him, he loves towing with the MDT, but hates running around with it once he is down south. It's just him and his wife and now she ends up following him down with their car so that they have something else while they are there. When they had their smaller trailer, they would just run their F-350 for everything. As much as I like to look at these really large units, finding one to work with your Dodge instead of the Int. may be the way to go.

I dont think that a 2500 Dodge is going to make it with just about anything that we are looking at size wise. We also thought about that when we were building the international truck that is one reason for an extra long bed on the tow truck. Depending on the trailer we could do either of these options im leaning in the direction of the smart car they weigh next to nothing 1,609 lbs and it measures out like it will work but depending on the trailer 5th wheel over hang The long bed also works for when hauling the stock trailer we can add hay bales and or bags of feed on the deck of the tow truck

Hey Big, just a thought, but how about a nice LQ horse trailer, that little car will fit in place of two horses. TDR member Gonzo has a jim dandy one. I think they are on the spendy side but maybe better built than most RV's, it's fun spending your money:-laf

I have no Idea what the status of their company is. I looked at 2 of them (I believe that they were new 2009's?) when we first started looking at rv's a few years ago that were purchased from a dealer that went under. Even though they were amazing deals off of MSRP, they were still more expensive than my house and probably bigger too. We were considering them to be put on a permanent site in Florida not to pull with us. I'm guessing that the one I linked sits at 15K+ dry easy, but I could be wrong.

Tetons were one of the top two or three in the industry when the economy was strong. Like all the top manufacturers they're history now. They sold a lot of full time units to transient workers like the thousands working in the oil patch in ND now. They were very heavy but a genuine four season trailer. Too heavy for most Class III duallies.

I looked at the one you linked and also looked it up on NADA used RVs. It was more like a 14k trailer, probably a lower end version of the Teton brand but still an extremely nice trailer. It was grossly overpriced in the ad you linked but its probably gone now. It would be ideal for someone who moved twice a year from north to south and back with the seasons or moved to a jobsite and stayed there for a year or two then moved on to the next job.

Personaly I think that its BULL I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER that you have paid taxes on it ONCE and then they can STICK it to ya again because you save



On the trailer side getting away from ANYTHING that has a horse or Mule involved is the request of the Wife, she wants to go some place and not smell horse I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER!!!!!

i have a 2001 Kountry Star made by Newmar,lived in it full time for 6 years never a problem,great trailer.

Newmar was one of the old high quality manufacturers who was crushed when the economy went in the sewer following the November '06 election. It was sad to see them stop building fifthwheels. Their top of the line luxury model trailers were in the top tier of fifthwheels made.

I think the company still builds a few million dollar motorhomes.

They make quality TC's and we are going to look at a few TT models soon.

I think that they can do better than the $14,190. 00 say that they can give us off, that makes it in the $55,700. 00 ballpark. Or at least give that + some other needs of the 5th wheel hook up. I have a Goose-neck mount under the bed, and need the 5th wheel will have to see, its a real nice rig wife likes the bigger fridge. I dont know about their aluminum wheels, im going to put Michelin tire's on it before it even leaves the lot if it goes thru, could have to overnight some rims from Southwest Wheel in TX (I think thats the name of the place) I dont like the funky look of the ones thats on it. They can keep the bed mattress also we had a sleep number in our TT and wont even go anyplace without one of those.

That's 25%, which is good, but they can do better if they want to. Which dealer is it. We bought ours in Pinehurst, ID.

We took our 5er on a 2000 mile trip when we bought it. As soon as we got it home I took the 5er to our neighborhood Discount Tire and had Michelin XPS Rib installed on all 5 wheels. I sold the equipped ST tires on craigslist cheap. I have the Aluminum wheels and I think they're great. They can handle all the weight you want to put on them and they look good. I wouldn't worry about the wheels.

The mattress on the other hand sucks. I want to change ours out for a good Sealy Posturepedic.

The wheels aren't like the ones with the holes these are like a fancy car wheel they just dont look to strong but who know I DONT.

Just a choice! we like the Sleep Number better than the Tempur-Pedic that we have in one of our guest rooms only because the Tempur Pedic is HOT!!! T/P in one and a regular mattress in the other. When we lived in So Calif the summers were pretty warm and the T/P would make it even hotter, the Sleep Number is the best I think cause both sides can adjust to their likes.

Hey Big, If your going to have that 5ver any where near hot weather, have an additional AC installed, if its an option. Mine only has the 30 amp service and one AC, when I'm in 100* ambient temperatures, in the Arizona Sun it loses the ability to maintain 75* but it does keep it cool enough to be comfortable, but in the lower 80's. The 30 amp service eliminates the possibility of another AC being installed on my coach. I do have a portable AC I can connect to my Honda generator's but its a hassle. If I had the chance of one do-over that I could have, that would be 50A service with two AC's.

I paid very little extra for the 55k genset, which gives you a 50amp service. A well worth investment.

I only have one AC, which is all I want because we only go to cooler places where you don't need an AC. We haven't used the AC yet, except to try it out at home to make sure it still works.

It has the generator prep option, so maybe it's possible. I'll call Northwoods and see if that will change it to a 50 Amp service.
