Wanted: opinions on either the Honda EU6500iS or EM6500SX generator

It has the generator prep option, so maybe it's possible. I'll call Northwoods and see if that will change it to a 50 Amp service.

On the picture of the trailer info it say's 50amp service first row about 2/3 of the way down. Was talking to FIL who (to me is the yoda of big RV's) said the same thing when he and MIL go to Tx or FL for winter they needed the AC being from MT mountains 90* is a HOT!!!! SOB and then add the moist air and ITS SAUNA TIME. Wonder if its wired for an additional A/C unit or IF IT COULD BE?

More than likely the 2nd AC prep is not there, because it isn't listed, I did notice your 50A service. The most likely place will be over the bedroom Vent hatch and the wiring will be challenging at best. Have you looked into ordering the 5ver?

My AF came pre-wired for a second AC over the bedroom at no additional cost. But then I'm talking about an 08.

Wont have to oreder one if the guy at the dealer comes round about the price.

That is a nice unit, they have come up a bit on the luxury side. What did the little lady think?

She wanted to go home get her Dad's truck and drag it home!!!! Our International is in the process of having a paint job done, on hold for right now to see if this goes thru the way we want on the trailer. That way we could use the paint colors of the trailer to match the truck have a matching set up. She liked it allot the things she is for are like most gal's interior color double door fridge things like that. I like the idea of the FULL ON SHOWER it is such a PITA to get out of a tub type shower WITH ONLY ONE FIGGING LEG!!!!!! Try it some time and see how that works for ya :-laf:-laf The bed is not right on the side of the trailer when trying to make the bed having to REACH around the closet on our other trailer was a back breaker. She has no idea that the trailer could have a washer/dryer setup in it I dont know how those things work anyway good or bad, I will talk to her later about that the sales guy was going to say something about it I gave him a  look and he left it at that. The central vac is something nice for her she is a CLEAN FREAK to the max!!!!! The fireplace is so,,,, so ,,,, with us FIL said a Pard of his has one in a BIG 5ER and they love it to take the chill off the trailer first thing in the AM I didnt know that they even threw off heat I thought it was for aesthetics only. Lots of nice features that we didnt have on our TT but for what this is intended for the EXTRAS will be nice.

Just looking at some Gensets would a 55k work even if I got 2 A/C units and be able to run the micro TV Vac system at the same time, I dont know that I WOULD but never know about the WIFE!!!! She's power hungry at times and im not talking about the RV either. :-laf Just kidding just want to do it RIGHT the FIRST and LAST time. Dont really want to hear I TOLD YOU TO GET A BIGGER ONE

You would need to add up all of the appliances watts and then you will have your answer. But 5. 5KW should be plenty, if your Dry Camping, more than likely you won't be there long enough to even worry about it. I use two portable 2KW honda generator's and connect them with a parallel kit to give me 4KW, that way they are light enough to handle and I can use it for 120V 15A service when general use is needed.

Here's a pic of my AF aluminum wheels, with my brand new Michelim XPS Rib tires.

That's what Im looking at!! the rims that they have are not like those in you Picture. Yours are what I put on our TT I like them and felt better knowing that they would be able to take some MPH better than the 15 in tires. I would think that they are strong enough but they look like I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER so they would have to go. The tires that are on it will be changed also. I have seen to many trailers on the side of the road with the side of a trailer GONE because of a tire blow out. Even IF they put the trailer back together IT'S NEVER THE SAME.

Grizzly,

AF? What dat mean?

EDIT: AF = Arctic Fox?

OK, what brand of wheel did you find?

15" ST tires, pretty scary on a good day, they sell a lot of 16" 'ers just because of the 15" ST's. I've given it some serious thinking, see the smoke?

Your edit is correct AF = Arctic Fox.

Those are the wheels that came on my 5er. They were an upgrade, which I paid a little extra for. They are 16". I had the 16" ST tires removed and had 16" LT Michelin XPS Rib mounted on all 5 wheels.

BIG, The wheels that were standard on my 5er looked much cheaper and that's the reason I upgraded to the wheels on the picture. I ordered our 5er and got it equipped exactly the way we wanted it. You may want to consider ordering one. It doesn't cost anymore than buying one from the lot. My wife got to pick all the interior colors and the items she wanted. I got to pick all the outside items and some inside items I wanted, including the two slideout toppers (awnings) to prevent debris from getting on top of the slideouts and getting trapped when you run the slideouts in, the larger Genset, 5. 5KW, the wheels in picture, the Hide-A-Bed sofa, the free standing dinette, extra large Refer and the low profile AC. I still got almost 30% off of MSRP. My wife and I have been very happy with our 27-5L AF 5er.

If this place wont deal a little more that is what we will do just order one and do it that way. Im going to call about the additional A/C unit and if it cant be done on this trailer then I think that we might order it and see if we can pick it up at the factory in OR. I would also like to have NO side decals on the trailer if we do in fact order it I dont know if they would do that but need to call factory and talk.

http://www.thunderrv.com Here is a link for a very friendly Arctic Fox dealer in La Grande OR. , just around the corner from Northwoods Mfg. It is were I bought my Arctic Fox, in fact on just my promise to be there in two days, they pulled it off the market for me as a courtesy. After all I wasn't going to put down a non refundable deposit on an RV I only saw pictures of and then drive 1200 miles just to find it sold. Its hard to judge a dealer by just one deal, but I would not buy from another, if I was ordering one, I highly recommend them.

BIG,

I spoke to the Northwood Factory Reps many times. I got to know them all on first name bases. They're all very friendly and knowledgeable. I wanted 16" Michelin LT tires from the factory. They said that their hands were tied and wouldn't do it. They said that I would have to work it out the dealer. The dealer wouldn't do it either. A Discount Tire Dealer near my home did it and all worked out fine. Another thing I wanted, which wasn't an option at the time was Scare Lights on each side of the trailer. The Factory did it for $100 for the pair and I believe it's part of their options now. The Dealer worked with me an everything else. Another thing was that I was not charged for was transport fee because the Dealer in Idaho was so close to the Factory in La Grande, OR. The Factory will not sell you the trailer, you must purchase it from a Dealer. I tried it. I don't believe they will delete the decals. It's part of there identification and part of their assembly. I'm okay with the decals. There not overly done and gross like many other brands.

This is the second RV I order new. I purchased others from the dealer lot and one from a private owner. I like being able to select the things I want and not what the Dealer wants. Every new car and truck I purchased, I custom ordered. It's never cost me anymore than buying from the lot.

I tried dealing with Thunder RV and found them to be liars and very difficult to even talk to. One day they quoted me one price and the next day another much higher price and totally denied the first quote. They got rather nasty. Maybe you had good experience with them, but I will never talk to them again. I reported them to Northwood.

Wow sorry to hear that, I think I remember that now that you mention it. Like I said it was one deal with them. Then never mind Big, sorry.

Well, perhaps you had a great experience with Thunder and maybe I'm the only one that had a bad experience with them, but they sure got ugly and nasty (no offence BIG) with me.
