Anyone know why Ram went from 5 Yr 100,000 to 5Yr 60,000, That is a reduction of almost 50% ! Do they not have faith in their trucks lasting to 100,000 anymore :eek:

Does that apply to the diesels, I believe someone posted that it was for gas models. BTW, tell all my old Cardinal friends hello. SNOKING

When this was first announced, I read on Autoblog or a similar site that it was to match "Industry Standards". Apparently, Ford has been at 5 year/60K for years.

As I posted here in another thread a while ago, I started having engine issues with my gas powered Ram 1500 at 80-85K or so. When I started having problems, I did some internet research and found that I am not the only one experiencing a valve train noise/tick and oil consumption issues at this mileage. Did this factor in their decision to change the warranty? We will probably never know.

For 2016 Cummins diesel powered pickup trucks (Less The Sprinter and RAM Diesel Chassis Cab), the limited power train warranty is 5 year- 100k miles. Also has the basic 3/36 warranty, 5/100 corrosion coverage, and extended Federal emissions warranty.

Gas powered limited power train warranty is 5/60 and I think same same on the rest...

That is what was written below their advertisement for a Ram 3500 900 lb torque Aisen transmission with pic in last issue of Trailer life mag.*

Snoking,we are almost ready to hit the road as well. This will be a 4000 miler this month crossing 8 states.I will be in the saddle for around 12 hours a day.I guess I should bring my stadium seat cushion......;)

I believe the reduction in warranty mileage is due to competition. Ford and GM don't offer a 100K mile warranty. Ram has increased reliability and consumer confidence to the point that they believe a higher mileage warranty doesn't bring in enough additional buyers to cover the increased cost of the higher mileage warranty. In other words, Ram is considered to be high enough quality that you don't need to worry about the extended warranty in order to purchase one... so why offer it?

Spoon you put a nice spin on it, you should go into politics. 40,000 miles a lot can go to pot. Personally I would feel better having the additional 40,000.

Thanks for the update. Nothing was said to me about anything other than the 5/100 powertrain warranty when I purchased my 2016 last month.
